There is a saying in the proverbs, "Iron sharpens iron as one man sharpens another" Proverbs 27:17.
If you are dieting, look for 1. Others to sharpen and encourage and 2. Someone who is on the same path that can sharpen you. There is a saying, "Birds of a feather, flock together." You never know? What you say to someone can influence them enough they can change their life. If you are looking to stay on a good diet, entertain those thoughts and comments. If your friend is talking about pizza, don't entertain it. You can do this in a polite way. If you entertain the thought long enough it COULD become an action. So be careful of what you entertain.
A good way to make other conscious of what the calorie content is to say something positive about the food but don't make it a big issue. Just plant the seed. A little here, a little here, and you are on the right path. The key is to stay on the right path.
Perhaps that other person is a mentor or a friend. You don't have to let them know you are mentoring them, just find someone who is doing it better than you. I have people in my life like that. They don't know it, but I do look up to them. They are meeting goals I couldn't imagine doing. However, if they can do it, so can I. Whether it be dieting goals, fitness goals or financial goals.
This all applies to life.
